The enormity of Wildspace provides Game Masters and players with endless character options. Every new world or moon could be home to the next race to befriend or oppose the characters. The following races can either supplement or replace some of the races described here and in the Player's Handbook.

Asherati (Sandstorm)

The asheratis, who dwell in sand much like merfolk dwell in the seas, are largely absent from wildspace. Though they may be found on desert worlds in numbers, they are almost unknown elsewhere. They are active traders, and their buried cities are well-known to many merchants. Their specialization towards sandy climates do leave them vulnerable, a fact well-known to slavers that deal in exotic “wares”.

Aventi (Stormwrack)

The descendants of ancient Aventus, the aventi, have spread far and wide. Many spacers believe Aventus was not some groundling empire, but instead was the name of a planet unified by a world-spanning empire. According to legend, Aventus was struck by a great comet, or perhaps a series of comets, which flooded the planet and sank the great cities beneath the waves. They were saved by the will of the various sea-deities they worshiped, although a further tragedy befell the race when they were forced to abandon their homeworld through ship and portal. The race fragmented and spread to the oceans of hundreds of worlds, seeking to reclaim their glory.

Bhuka (Sandstorm)

The goblin-like bhukas were once much more common in wildspace, claiming worlds few wanted. Things changed during the Unhuman Wars, when overzealous elven captains mistook bhuka enclaves for goblin strongholds. Even still, many bhuka pharatries managed to escape elven notice, and survived the Wars more or less intact. This was, in part, because so many bhuka settlements are so difficult to detect from above, and the elves were too busy destroying the more aggressive goblin-kin to seek out every settlement possible. Since the return of goblin-kin, the bhuka have become even more reclusive, not wanting to be mistaken for their more blood-thirsty kin!

Darfellan (Stormwrack)

Like the aventi, the darfellan are believed by spacers to have hailed from some distant ocean world that was conquered by the sahuagin. So great was the slaughter that only a few outposts on other worlds survived, forever shattering the darfellans. Other races quickly took advantage of the darfellans’ misfortune, and all too many found themselves as slaves or simply robbed of all they owned. Some refugees took to wildspace, and now some ports have darfellan enclaves. These enclaves are typically dirty, hastily built, and generally in poor condition.

Elf, Aquatic (Stormwrack)

Bound to the oceans, aquatic elves are not a common sight in wildspace. They do maintain good relations with the Elven Fleet, which has played a part in spreading the race to numerous ocean-worlds and keeping their scattered communities in contact with one another. They are welcomed in elven ports and enclaves, and it is not entirely unknown to see an aquatic elf in wildspace. Their inability to remain out of the water for long prevents them from leaving the oceans for long, and trips into wildspace are both brief and infrequent.

Goliath (Races of Stone)

Goliaths find asteroids natural homes in wildspace. The rugged landscape, thin atmospheres, and sparse vegetation of many asteroids remind them of their alpine homes. As asteroids are their home, many goliaths have alliances with dwarves, selling them woolen clothes, milk, and meat in exchange for weapons. Goliath families that live on dwarven asteroids act as watchmen and guards for the dwarves.

Illuman (Races of Destiny)

With endless mysteries to solve and worlds to explore, illumans are naturally attracted to wildspace. The fortress-like homes of their cabals have sprung up across several asteroids and remote moons. From these hidden fortresses the illumans have both extreme privacy and access to countless languages to study and learn. Other cabals worm their way into the various libraries through wildspace, seeking greater access to the knowledge of countless worlds.

Neanderthal (Frostburn)

The brutish neanderthals have spread, by means unknown, to many worlds. Their clans inhabit any number of frontier planets and even a few asteroids. The ancient ruins they sometimes inhabit give tantalizing hints to a past civilization, leading some sages to speculate that the neanderthals are descendants of some ancient empire, and that its fall resulted in the present state of the neanderthal race. Regardless, their great strength and low intelligence make them attractive to slave-traders, and more than a few neanderthal clans have been enslaved.

Raptoran (Races of the Wild)

The sky-dwelling raptorans, already accustomed to flight, have made their way into wildspace. They naturally seek out air worlds to settle, and have colonies scattered on several such planets. Raptoran ships are notorious for going out of their way to avoid strangers, leading some to mistake their caution for weakness.

Uldra (Frostburn)

The cold-dwelling uldra may be found on outer worlds and habitable comets. The natural wanderlust that affects the uldra has prompted the race to spread out and settle countless worlds. There are a large number of uldra ships drifting between worlds, ferrying individual uldras from place to place. The captains have an innate ability to know where and when there are uldra that need to travel from one world to another. These ships sole duty is to move uldra from planet to planet. Trade, war fleets, piracy, and the like are irrelevant to uldra captains.
