Jumble is the result of the collision of several asteroids during a magical cataclysm millenia ago. Due to the strong magic in evidence at the time of its creation, Jumble has at least ten different gravity planes! There are four major planes, six minor planes, and several more miniscule planes. Jumble's streets and buildings happily switch planes frequently at their intersections. Many buildings look like they were designed by someone who had no clue what a straight line, or a plumb bob, is. A building may climb 30 feet, and encounter an intersection of planes, and change direction entirely, with the remainder of the building resting upon a different plane. Some few buildings are built along the plane (like most asteroid docks are) as it leaves the asteroid itself. Most of these are used as protected docking facilities, or warehouses. Jumble has become a major crossroads because it is the largest mass in its area. The largest of the gravity planes includes the dock areas. Most travelers never leave this area because negotiating the transitions from one plane to another is very disorienting to those not used to it. There is a thriving business among the youth of Jumble in the guide business. There are no maps of Jumble, as the attempt has driven more than one cartographer insane. Those who live there, or frequently do business there, know their way around. Those who do not hire a guide, or get lost.

The ruling duke, Oralon the Multifaceted, has as many distinct personalities as the city has gravity planes. Fortunately, they are all good, and usually only come out when needed. Oralon is 16th level in whatever class he happens to have at the time, depending on which personality has control. His known personalities include a warrior, a cleric, and a mage (somewhat befuddled). Unknown to all (even himself), he is also the leader of the city's thriving thieves guild. The DM should roll or assign appropriate stats for each personality. He should be treated as if he were several different men, but never appearing together.
