Post in the Unique NPC Ship thread.
A fairly new ship, the Greystar was the first Explorer-class Sealship ever built. Calling the docks of Greywolf home, the Greystar was sent on an exploration mission into the farthest reaches of space. It has charted over a dozen systems, and is always seeking more spheres to discover.
More recently, the Greystar has joined the Five Stars, a newly formed trading company. The Five Stars are a collection of minor merchants and city-states that have pooled their spelljamming resources to increase their profits. The members realized that by helping each other, they help themselves, as space is a dangerous place indeed.
The Greystar can be encountered anywhere in space, as exploration is it's primary mission. However, it can occasionally be encountered hauling cargo, most likely in Greyspace or Realmspace. When it is in Twilitespace, it is either returning from a mission, or about to embark on one.

Captain Starsong Cirir (CG hem B9 hp 37 D17 I
14 Ch 17)
AC (leather armor plus dex)
Magic Items: rapier +2, oil of impact, rope of
entanglement
An unlikely leader, Starsong has become quite famous as a spelljamming captain. The Greystar is his first assignment, and already has opened over a dozen new trade routes. While not an imposing man, Starsong is quite cunning. He prefers to use his wits to win the battle to the use of a sword or catapult.
Captain Starsong is an outspoken and likeable person. He likes a good game of cards, and is on a first name basis with his crew. He believes that every member of his crew is fully competent. Independent thought and initiative is encouraged.
Starsong is a typical bard, i.e. a lady's man. In port, he can be found romancing young women and spending his time performing at local bars. More than one noble woman has given him favor, which accounts for his great success in cities run by female nobles. He is still unattached, and hopes to stay that way.
Ship's Mage Goldawn Starmyst (CG ef W11 hp 28
I 16 Ch 15)
AC 8 (Ring of protection +2)
Magic Items: Deck of Illusions, Crystal Ball
A longtime friend of Starsong, Goldawn followed him into space. They have been close friends, even lovers, throughout their travels together. However, their relationship is rocky at best. Currently, they are seeing other people.
Goldawn loves a good adventure. Exploration is her passion, as she likes to see and do new things. Strange local customs fascinate her, and she will spend weeks, even months, learning a new dance or song. She knows a great deal about local customs, and is more than ready to share her knowledge if traded for similar knowledge on a culture that she does not know well.
Not a tall person, Goldawn only reaches 5' 1" in height. She has golden blonde hair and a radiant smile that has captured the hearts of more than one suitor. She is most likely to dress in loose clothing and short dresses. When she wears the jewelry she owns, she can be stunning to look at.
Chief Helmsman Kregton Thankar (NG hm F3/W7
(duel classed) S 16 I 17)
AC 10
Magic Items: 4 scrolls (random spells)
Born to a noble family of Kzundra, Kregton quickly became bored with his life. His family had a great deal of wealth, but since he was the youngest, he would inherit none of it. Disgusted with his family's over indulgence, he signed up on the first ship that would take him. That ship was, of course, the Greystar, and he has never looked back.
Kregton is large man, but wizardry has always been his chief interest. Many an opponent has mistaken Kregton for a warrior, only to be frozen in their tracks by his spells. In battle, Kregton prefers ice-related spells, but is rarely able to cast them, due to his duty as chief helmsman. Never the less, Kregton is always on the look out for more spells to study and learn.
Kregton stands at 6' 3" tall, towering over almost every other crewman. He dresses in light furs and carries a bastard sword, which he is quite skilled in using. He has long, black hair and a solid, muscular form.
Navigator Drasher Starhammer (NG dm P8 (of S
15 W 15)
AC 5 (Chain armor)
Magic Items: Warhammer +2 (has a base 50% chance of
knocking down door that it hits).
As a member of the Starhammer clan, Dasher was born and raised in space. He is naturally fascinated with space and the unknown. An expert craftsman, Dasher spends his time carving a new statue, weapon, or piece of armor. His artworks are always given to crewmen or the local lords that he meets. A quiet dwarf, his art pieces have won the Greystar many friends in fairly high places. In many ports that the Greystar has visited, Drasher can get the crew whatever provisions they need, for almost half the normal asking prices. Drasher also acts as the secondary helmsman when he is not crafting a new piece of art or charting the course of the Greystar.
Dasher appears as a typical dwarf, with a long beard and corded muscles. He has a rough and tumble appearance to him, but is actually quite gentle. When in battle, he can fight with the best of them, but would rather to use Hold spells to stop opponents without killing them.
Backup mages: (2) humans, wizards lvls 4 &
5.
Crewmen: (10) humans, fighters lvls 1-3.
Archers: (8) elves, fighters (archer kit) lvls 2-4.
A sealship is a new ship design, introduced by the shipwrights of Greywolf. Its overall design is similar to that of the hammership, except that it has four decks instead of three. It mounts a ballista on the forecastle and a catapult in the rear turret. Inside the forecastle is the bridge, chart room, armory, and the captain's quarters. The main deck is lined with officer and crew quarters, with a cargo hold in the rear half. The lowest deck also contains crew quarters, a shrine, and more cargo space. The whole ship is beautifully crafted, with every exposed surface is well polished. Only the best wood was used in the construction of the ship, and many elvish designs were used when it was built.
Starsong has avoided battle whenever possible and thus his ship show few signs of damage. Goldawn uses her magic to remove whatever battle scars the crew cannot repair.
The Greystar is not a warship, nor is it a pirate ship. It is a trader, often carrying unique wares. Starsong is more than willing to talk with the crew of the ships he encounters, and has been known to trade with passing ships. The Greystar is also a font of knowledge, and could provide a group of adventurers with valuable starcharts and tips on the customs areas the Greystar have visited.
