The Rouge of Wildspace is, or was, a military ship in service of the Scro Retribution Fleets. However, it has become a pirate ship under the command of a desperate captain. Her captain is trying to escape his fellow scro, fleeing for his life. Upon hearing that the Tarantula Fleet was destroyed, Captain Rogath decided to flee to Bral space, hoping to find a safe haven in a sphere where both the scro and the elves were fairly weak.

The Rouge is an unmodified wasp stolen from the scro command in Moragspace (who stole it from a lizardman shipyard in Realmspace). The Rouge has seen a great deal of action since it was built, and as a result, the hull is not in the best of shape. It has had to be nearly rebuilt twice, and most of the original woodwork has been replaced. Its current captain doesn't have access to the facilities he needs to make repairs, so all repairs are made by the crew (none of which are very skilled in carpentry). It has a minor helm and no special magical items other than a planetary locator and a portal detector.

Crew

Captain Rolgath (NE scro male F5)

Once, Rolgath was a prominent scro captain, climbing the ladder of success. However, he made the mistake of murdering a warpriest who offended him. He quickly found himself on the run, trying to escape from vengeful warpriests. Rolgath's only hope was to break a few convicts out of the brig and convince them to help him steal a ship. He was forced to slay two hobgoblins before the rest of the convicts would follow him. A wasp ship was all he could steal, and since his escape a 5,000 gp reward has been placed on his head.

Rolgath, though a good captain, is now completely paranoid. He sees everyone as either bounty hunters or potential bounty hunters. The bounty hunters are closing in on him, and he is desperate to escape long, painful death at the hands of the warpriests. There is no one in this galaxy that he trusts, including his own crew. If he were captured and handed over to the elves, he could provide valuable information on scro fleet activities.

Ship's Mage Sin (CE hobgoblin female W5/P4 I 16 W 16)

Young and full of energy, Sin rejected standard hobgoblin traditions and become a sorceress. In many ways, she is a witch, selling her soul (and that of her tribe) for "beauty" and power. She came to work for the scro as a means of gaining more power and wealth. However, she was caught stealing the spellbooks of some high ranking warpriests, and was imprisoned. When Rolgath broke her out with the rest of the prisoners, she jumped at the chance to escape, even helping Rolgath in killing four guards. She now serves as ship's mage, providing a little extra magic in dealing with foes.

Sin's biggest secret is that no one ever found her spellbook, which she has recovered. It has many spells that the scro warpriests regularly use and could be extremely valuable in figuring out their tactics. She hopes to ditch Rolgath and take command of her own ship. Unfortunately for her, she knows the crew would never follow her, so she must put up with the insufferably paranoid scro.

Gulp and Shiver (CE goblin males P4)

Twin brothers and helmsmen for the Rouge, Gulp and Shiver have always been cowardly priests of their god. The whole reason that they joined the church was to escape the army. However, they were drafted into service when things started going bad for the scro. They only served in one battle, where their tremendous cowardice got several of their fellow goblins killed. This would have not made much difference to the scro if it wasn't for the fact that they also got the Almighty Leader's youngest son killed as well. These two were slated for execution when Rolgath broke them out. They now serve completely out of fear of the big scro, and follow his orders without question.

Boar (NE scro male F4 S 18(90) I 7)

The only other scro onboard the Rouge, Boar is a massive individual, but not too bright. His incredible strength earned him a place with the scro marines. However, he proved just too stupid for his commander's tastes. Many of his fellow marines deliberately tried to kill him off by allowing him to lead charges and set off traps. Despite their best efforts, Boar managed to survive by shear luck alone. Boar was in the brig to sleep of a long night's drinking when Rolgath broke him out. Rolgath knew the big scro from an earlier command, and managed to convince to dimwitted scro that he was going to be executed for killing a warpriest the night before. Given that Boar didn't remember that night, being too drunk, he believed a scro he thought he could trust. Now, Boar is in charge of security and is Rolgath's primary enforcer.

Dart (NE hobgoblin male F5)

Dart is a hobgoblin warrior who is considered by many in his tribe as, well, insane. He dresses in outlandish attire, most of which he stole from a noble from Waterdeep. He wields a rapier and a brace of pistols in combat. He considers himself a dashing hero, but his is nothing more than a flop. Unreliable in combat, Dart has too high of an opinion of himself. He does not realize that he has absolutely no skill with a rapier, but this does not concern him in the least. Dart was being held in the brig for issuing duels to virtually everyone in a bar (normally legal, but not in wartime conditions). He sees the Rouge as his chance to get away from an overly strict army and get some REAL adventures!

General Crewmen: 10 hobgoblin warriors, all convicted of various crimes ranging from theft, drunkenly disorder, to murder. None are too reliable in a fight.
