Entry in the Unique Ship Challenge III.
Originally found adrift near Realmspace as a derelict, this turtle ship was recovered by the mercenary organization, The Celestial Legion, while they were moving from Toril to Bral. Since then, the Starbeast has become one of the primary ships used by the mercenaries on the missions when "excitement" is expected.
The Starbeast is 95' long, 70' across and 42' high with 20' standing above the waterline.
Upon arriving at Bral, the leader of the group saw much potential in the ship but felt that a few changes were in order to properly prepare it for use. One of the changes was the addition of a hangar deck in the upper portion of the shell. The nearly solid top was hollowed out (adding 6 tons to cargo space), and sliding metal doors designed to be manually released from inside the hangar and slide open along the outside of the shell (1 round is required to fully open the hangar doors) were added on to the top of the ship, designed to appear as part of the turtle's shell. Access to this area is granted via a ladder in the back of the helm room or from the rear ladder leading to the ship's catapult. The group's Wreckboat is parked in the hangar deck until times of need. Other changes included upgrading the light ballistae to dual-mounted versions and upgrading the helm to a major helm.

Originally from Toril, Aswansea began travelling in space early in her life, until she came to Oerth where she joined the church of Celestian as an acolyte. After a number of years, she returned to Toril where she joined the Celestial Legion and eventually married Matthew Grenegor, another member of the mercenary group. She has an innocent, almost naive outlook on life, always looking for the good in people.

Erid was previously a traveling companion with Traylox Iltan. Although he is one of the ship's marines, he is a bit of a coward preferring to sneak behind his opponent (or even away from battle if he can) rather than a frontal attack. Thus, he is not well respected by other crew members.
