Entry in the Unique Ship Challenge III.
The Viper was once a well known undead hunter in greyspace. It was crewed by a mix of Dwarves and Lizardmen who went out of there way to make the space lanes free of this terrible menace.
But like all successful (and boastful) adventuring ships someone took notice of their war against undead, this someone was Kindalas a Krynnish Necromancer of some skill. One ambush later Kindalas was the proud owner of the Viper.
Captain Kindalas

Kindalas was once a member of a secret organization of eight mages (one specialist from each school) who were actively working against the Wizards of High Sorcery. When the conclave discovered this an took decisive action the eight mages scattered. Kindalas killed the sorcerer, who hunted him, in Greyspace. After taking a job as a scribe he learned of the Viper (just as he decided that he needed his own ship.) After the ambush (which he refuses to talk about) he was joined by two of his allies who escaped the conclaves attack.
He possesses a staff of animate dead (three times a day) Bracers AC 6 a Dagger +2 a Long Sword +1 +3 vs. Undead (taken from the ship's last captain) and his spell book
First Officer Brunna

Brunna is a human Invoker from Krynn. After the ambush Brunna's spellbook was destroyed during his flight into Wildspace. He gained passage on board the privateer Medusa's Wish as a cook where he learned the arts of a warrior. Years went buy until he managed to get his hands on a deceased invoker's spell book. While an excellent magician Brunna's true passion is fighting and Killing.
Brunna does not own many magical items. His long sword is non magical, as is his belt of daggers. In fact, the only magical item he possesses (other then his spell book) is a ring of the ram that can be used three times a week (one use equals one charge) given to him by his last captain.
Despite his lack of magical items, Brunna tends to unleash his spells onto the enemy before donning his one piece suit of chain mail (AC 5 custom made)
He is always the first living person to board an enemy ship, bravely directing the undead into battle, no matter the odds.
Chief Helmsman Ildatche

The last of the three survivors of the Conclave ambush Ildatche bares a tremendous hatred of the mages who killed his wife, after avenging her death he joined his long time friends Kindalas and Brunna as the Viper's chief helmsman.
When not piloting the Viper's helm, Johnson is in his room studying spellbooks. He possesses a robe of the Magi and several scrolls.
Kindalas, Brunna and Ildatche trust each other completely and due to there rather specific fields of magic (and history) there is little rivalry between them.
