The ten foot long creature is fish-like, but has a trilateral symmetry. It's head has three eyes, three individually hinged mouths; and three large dorsal fins are placed equidistantly around its body.

Delphinids are friendly beasts that swim through the phlogiston. They occassionally help strandard travelers and sailors who have fallen off their ships. Delphinids can change their skin color at will—even making multi-colored swirls and streamers appear.

Combat

Delphinids attack by ramming—their teeth are too small to be used effectively as weapons. They often use their weight to knock opponents down (or off, or over, or whatever). They are smart enough to make creative use of this tactic.

These peaceful creatures rarely initiate combat, though they will attack to protect themselves or their friends.

Adaptive Colors (Ex): Delphinids can change their colors at will to match the surrounding phlogiston, or to solid black or white to draw attention to themselves. Their natural color is a medium gray. * This ability gives them a +20 circumstance bonus on Hide checks.

In the Spheres

Delphinids get their sustenance directly from the plogiston, though they still like various treats that sailors throw to them—especially fruits.

Delphinid flesh is sweet and tender, but most good or neutrally aligned sailors consided it bad luck to kill these creatures.
