Quinch (male Elf)
Captain of "The Omen" First Mate of "The Albino Spider"
Theif
AL:CN, HP:35, AC:7
Str13, Dex19, Con12, Int 15, Wis14, Chr12
Appearence: Quinch is a relatively young (95 year-old) elf with a near
unique feature(for an elf), a full grown beard.
Personality: Crazy with an slight streak of evil, yet loyal to his crew
and friends(i suppose he realizes that in space he'd die without them.)
His way of life is to do things the fastest way usually regardless of
the cost to his crew, though at times when things happen to easy he is
cautious to the end.
Marin Woodray (male half-elf)
Bard(6th level), Blade Kit
AL:NG, HP:32, AC:4 (leather +dex)
Str12, Dex18, Con11, Int 13, Wis11, Chr18
Appearence: Marin is an amazingly stunning looking half-elf, blond hair
and nearly alabaster skin contrast with the black studded leather that
is his armor.
Personality: Few are the foes that take Marin Woodray anything less then
serious, his Blade abilities make him appear to be a fighter of great
skill(although this is far from the truth), and he intimidates his foes
sooner than they die by his blade. Marin Woodray is the perfect balance
for Quinch the co-owner of the two ships. Quinch would rather do things
quick and easy, while Marin considers the human element.

It began with a misunderstanding of sorts, two men an elf and a half-elf in the city of Raven's Bluff accusing each other of thievery. In time they became friends, fighting amoungst each other and against their enemies that once only sought the one now sought the twain.
Though their individual and collective history is of little importance in Raven's Bluff, their true reknown began one night when aboard a ship they were suddennly miles above the planet flying to places unknown. Travelling at first towards Bral the pair left their friends ship when a damslefly, once the ship of some pirates who thought the adventures easy prey, became their own ship, along with a Priest of Gond who introduced the twain to the wonderful world of Smokepowder.
Bral was a fantasic world for the pair, Fortunes found and adventures had, Quinch the theif fought a Starbeast in the arena(tricked by a pretty face), Marin(now slightly malevolent influenced by Quinch) Threw a halfling spectator over the sideFor quinch's use as a ladder. The 3(Quinch, Marin and the Halfling)Fled, well actually the halfling was carried, in a carriage, and upon passing the Illithid Embassy Marin "accidently" dropped the Halfling threw the window.
The pair set sail again into space forgetting about their friend the priest of Gond, and hiring a new prettier face who quickly became attracted to the charismatic bard, who returned the affection somewhat. The pair's former allies who introduced them to space sent out word of a fantastic "ship graveyard" (NOTE: this is the adventure "Dwellers in the Vortex" in Space Lairs, proceed only if you want to slightly ruin an adventure for yourself.)The graveyard ended up being a powerful vortex in which the two found a fantasic ship, The Omen...
The Omen
Created years ago as a test model for the Illithid Nations of Wildspace
this "Giant" Nautiloid design was scrapped to pave way for the far
superior Illithid Dreadnought. The Illithid's thinking that the vortex
would destroy the great ship sent out a particularly troublesome captian
from the Illithid ranks and equipped the ship the captian's equally
troublesome crew to die with him. The captian was never heard from
again. Suriviing in the vortex for 20 years on the brains of his slaves
until the Radiant Golem made it's first appearance in the Vortex.
The Illithids eventually died in it's presence. (Note that my Omen was
changed from the "Omen" found in Space Lairs)
The Golem made the "Omen" his home until the twain arrived years later.
Loading the Albino Spider (a regular Mindspider), The Omen escaped from the vortex withe the golem then pawned it off on a passing human tradesman. Then left the sphere for places unknown. Emmersing them selves as mercenaries in an epic battle for the simple price of a chest of gold and precious gems. After turning down an offer to join the human navy of the battle, they returned to Realmspace setting their sights back towards Raven's Bluff the place where their fondest memories were set.
After entering the sphere, the Omen encountered an abandonend ship and found nothing but the dessicated husk of a strange beast, and a pile of gold coins, some plain and featureless, others marked with the currency of Corymr(sp?). Sensing something amiss the 2 seperated the "coins" in to marked, and un-marked, and placed all unmarked in a bag tied to the ship which floated at the edge of the gravtiy plane.
Their suspicions were correct, the unmarked coins(not all of which they managed to seperate) truned out to be Yitsan eggs which hatched an caused grave injury to the crew and ship.
The Battle was eventually won(by the Giff) and the damaged ship returned to Bral, where the crew and captain(s) were captured by the "Port authority" for illegal merchandise(the Yitsan eggs)which they admitted to having. After escaping Bral now fugitives, the two with crew headed back to Raven's Bluff, but never arrived.
The Omen & Albino Spider
The thing about these ships is that like the Battle Dolphin's shuttle,
the Albino Spider is in the cargo hold, an escape ship of sorts, and
also an extra ship in battle situations.
The Albino armed with a cloaking device is released from the cargo hold(the exit of which is in the back of the Giant Nautiloid, so the enemy ship normally can't see the cargo bay doors open) The Spider will attack the enemy ship from behind thus dropping it's cloak, and trapping the ship between the 2.
There is a 50% chance that the crew of the Omen will not automatically attack any ship(beholder ships, other Illithid ship will be avoided as will any ships bigger than a Man O'War.) As Quinch and Marin take turns deciding what to do in the event that they meet up with another ship, and Marin never atacks, Quinch always does.
