The Space Fleet's counterpart to the elven manowar, the war bird is able to match it blow-for-blow and then some. Carrying more weaponry but requiring a larger minimum crew, the war bird is a dangerous addition to the S.F.'s arsenal.

Crew

As the war bird is a military ship, the crew is highly organized. There is a captain, first officer, second officer, primary and secondary helmsman, and various lieutenants assigned to other sections and stations.

Ship Uses

Military: War birds are new enough to have no non-military owners. The Space Fleet created these ships to match the impressive and imposing elven ships stationed in the sphere, and to have a fleet of ships distinct to the sphere.

Exploration: War birds are frequently used to seek out contact with new spheres and races, with hopes of expanding commerce and knowledge. These war birds are dubbed "Quest Ships" by the S.F.

Other Configurations

Heavy War Bird: These ships have thicker hulls and armor plating, increasing the AR to 5 and reducing cargo space to 24 tons and MC D.

Firebird: Also known as the Phoenix class, these bright orange, red and yellow war birds have had all of their medium ballistae replaced with greek fire projectors. Their captains are brave, die-hard types who practice close combat tactics, making full use of the blunt and grappling rams and maneuvering in tight to make the most of the dreaded greek fire projectors.
