Both these Helms are limited to moving ships of 25 tons or less. An individual is only capable of using either of these Helms for 6 hours before becoming fatigued and losing 4 points of SR for every additional hour to a minimum SR of 1. It is not possible to use one of these helms for more than 12 hours at one time and for each additional hour spent in the Helm 3 more hours of rest are needed. The normal amount of rest needed before spells can be memorised or a Helm can be used after using one of these helms is 18 hours and at least half of the time must be spent asleep. Each time one of these Helms is activated or the ship goes to Spelljamming speed there is a 10% chance of the Helm malfunctioning if this happens the helm is totally useless for 6 hours, after 6 hours have passed any cleric or mage of 5th level or higher can attempt to re-start the Helm by sitting in it and making a successful intelligence check, if they are unsuccessful they are still fatigued as if they had used the Helm. If either no attempt is made to restart the Helm or if all attempts are unsuccessful the Helm will restart on its own after 1d6 days.
This Helm is capable of propelling a ship at tactical speeds with a SR equal to the Helmsman's level, at spelljamming speeds the Helm can achieve three times normal speeds. There are approximately 6 Major Helms of Celerity in existence at this time.
This Helm is capable of a propelling a ship at tactical speeds with an SR equal to 3/4 of the helmsman's level, at spelljamming speeds the Helm can achieve twice normal speeds. There are approximately 12 Minor Helms of Celerity in existence at this time.
These Helms are still very new so it is still very hard to get hold of one, the prices above are not absolute values but more the minimum that these helms can be obtained for. At the moment the Arcane only sell 1-2 Major Helms of Celerity and 3-4 Minor Helms of Celerity a year, of which at least half are brought by the IEN who also posses at least half of the ones already in existence.
