Due to the tremendus construction costs of creating the Crystal Ships, the Antilans have begun mass producing a smaller version called the Shardship. It has the same crystaline structure, but has a more streamlined appearance. It looks like a rough cut slinder crystal shard with a crystal piercing ram purtruding from the front and two sets of three side-mounted masts to support the sunsails. The upper deck is dominated by the swivel mounted medium Ballista. Two light ballistas are mounted below, to the forward (FPS) and aft (APS). There is another light ballista mounted in an underside opening just behind and below the ram. The third ballista must be dismantaled and the weapons port sealed before the ship can make a water landing. As with the Crystal Ship, when the sunsails are deployed the ship is very fast, but unmanuverable (+2 SR, MC D). With the sunsails in, the speed drops to normal but the MC goes to B. Also, because of the translucent crystal hull, any ship attacking a shardship when it has the sun behind it, suffers a -1 attack modifer. The shardship serves as an escort ship or as a troop transport for smaller strikes against illithid outposts. Although formidable on its on, they usually patrol in groups of three.
