Agari is a small ball of charred rock and metal. Between the planetary rotation and its speedy orbit around Solinus, the "hot" side of Agari changes once every 35 days. The Solinus side of the planet is unbearably hot and consists mainly of charred rock and molten pools of stone and metals. The dark side of the planet freezes over with a thick layer of ice. The border regions between the two are thick with heavy fog and scalding mists. Its surface is completely inhospitable to any but the hardiest of creatures and
even for such, permanent homes are almost impossible to build due to the extreme temperature changes. The planets interior on the other hand is heavily populated with all manner of subterranean life. Vast caverns spanning several leagues house great civilisations. Only rarely do any of the planets residents range out to the planets surface.
About once every Agari year, Solinus lets out a series of mighty ethereal flares. The flairs block between 60% and 70% of the planets contact with the astral plane for as long as 5 to 15 days. During this time any metal that comes in contact with the flares has a 1% chance of becoming infused with ethereal energy, becoming "Elemental Thjorad". The same chance exists for stone to become Etherstone, but since the flares melt most stone instantly, it is very difficult to harvest or find once it has flown away in lava streams.
Due to the very mutable nature of Agari the planet has no permanent ports. Most Agaran traders gather at grand bazaars on the planets dark side and light gigantic beacon flames to indicate their position and attract outworlder merchants. Those merchants with their own spelljamming ships often orbit the planets dark side and meet traders there. Planning for a permanent handles platform has been running for years, but so far construction has not yet been started.
The Spelljamming world of Akadia sends infrequent mining ships out to Agari in search of valuable metals and above all Elemental Thjorad. During Ethereal flares traffic near Agari increases over 100 fold, though these ships orbit on the planets dark side until the flares have died out. Some merchant companies "farm" elemental Thjorad by leaving large stores of raw metal in special bunkers beneath the planets surface to be exposed to the Ether flares. Native Agaran traders have begun to do the same and even raid the stores of outworlder merchants. This has been the cause of more than one brutal guild war. Unfortunately for the Akadian guild fleets the majority of the Agaran guilds with such practices defend from massive subterranean fortresses, leaving the Akadian's to raiding the poorly constructed and outfitted Agaran merchant runners. Some Agaran merchant guilds lay traps upon decoy ships or even ram ships fully loaded with hazardous materials or poisonous air into Akadian aggressors. Though these conflicts are rare, they are becoming increasingly common and as their frequency rises so too their brutality. Many fear that a full blown planetary war may be at hand, the outcome of which can only be speculated at.
