Core space's sun is a bright yellow dwarf, similar to Earths sun and is categorised as a type G5 star. Solinus is actually an elemental vortex to the core of the demi-plane of fire which allows it to reach a constant temperature of 5.775 degrees Kelvin.
The elemental nature of Solinus binds it closely to the ethereal plane and at irregular intervals (between 230 and 280 days) Solinus spits out what are called ethereal flares. Ethereal flares are actually breaches in the fabric of the planes which let the ethereal plan "run over" into the prime. The reason behind this phenomenon is to date still unclear, yet the consequences are quite evident. Most living matter which comes in contact with an ethereal flare disintegrates immediately from the intense heat and ethereal energies. Most elemental creatures that reside on Solinus have developed a "migration" instinct which allows them to flee to the demiplane of fire before the flares begin. A typical flare lasts from 5 to 15 days. Nonliving materials like stone and metal absorb the ethereal energies and on average 100 feet of solid stone is enough to protect most life forms. A small percentage of the stone and metal which absorbs the ethereal energy is transformed into either Etherstone or Elemental Thjorad. These materials are highly prized for their magical properties, though their true powers can only be revealed, not cultivated.
