A tower of a man at 6' 7", Edward weighs in at 194 lbs. This large man has honey-blonde hair and brown eyes. Edward is 54, but appears as 40 years old because of his use of three elixirs of youth. Edward wears a full beard but keeps his hair cut short. While he has little reason to leave the Royal Palace, on the few occasions he does he always travels in the disguise of a minor mage. When in court, he always dresses in flowing red robes, an ash-gray cloak, black gloves, and thick black boots. When fully attired, he can be an imposing figure.
Though not a very strong man, Edward has always relied upon his cunning and brilliant mind to get him through life. He comes from a long line of middle-class merchants. His family is famous (notorious) for their bargaining skills and tremendous ability to make money. Because of his great wealth, Edward has bought a shrikeship to use as a personal cruiser. This ship, the Flare, serves as Edward's method of transport to travel throughout the whole Republic.
Edward hails from Arystal, but traveled to virtually every major city in the Republic before he turned eighteen. His youth was spent helping his family hammer out trade deals throughout the Republic. When he joined the Shining Cascades University at the age of 20, he was making his own deals and earning vast sums of money. He used those profits to fund as his education at the University and earned a place as a powerful mage.
After finishing his education at the University, Edward spent the next ten years working his way up through the ranks. He pulled duty as a brightwing rider, a mage on a Hawkwing Sunhawk, and finally managed to get a job serving the then-court mage of Fire Zerus. As luck would have it, Zerus took a liking to the youth and choose him as his personal successor when he retired. This antagonized four other fire mages who were jockeying for the same position. Before Edward could claim his position, they conspired together and attacked him in his quarters. However, Edward was too shrewd to be caught off-guard, and he lured them into a trap. All four were slain within a minute of breaking into his room. Afterwards, Edward calmly set down his glass of ale, walked over their charred bodies, and walked to the ceremonial hall for his inauguration.
Since that time, Edward has served loyally for the last five years. He has run many errands for his Empress, which sometimes take him outside the boundaries of the Republic. Otherwise, he works on magical enchantments and researching magical items. Currently, he is working on developing a formula for a Staff of Fire, and is now in the process of gathering some of the materials.

Niabeth is 46, 6' 2", and 122 lb. She is not a very remarkable person, but her keen intelligence and great wisdom marked her as a wizard before she turned ten. She has black hair and dark gray eyes. She wears her hair very long, with her long straight hair reaching down past her waist. Niabeth does not have an overly attractive figure, so she wears long and ample robes to hide her less than flattering figure. She tends to wear robes of blue, white, and light gray. She is never without her trusted Ring of Regeneration, which has saved her life on numerous occasions.
She was very young when she joined the University. The fact that she was born of House Krajen marked her immediately for success. Her family has long had a history of generating powerful mages, and her teachers fully expected her to excel. Her fellow students, however, marked her as a silver spoon, and constantly tormented her. During her stay at the University, she had few friends, and as a result, threw herself fully into learning magic. This dedication to her work earned her valedictorian of her class, much to the jargon of her classmates.
After finishing the University, she joined her only friend the earth mage teacher Galorejar as part of the adventuring company the Blades of the Stars. They spent the next twelve years travelling throughout the sphere earning their coins battling pirates and monsters. The group was made famous for the exploration of the ruins of Shoal, once a major dwarf/elf city of the North Kingdom that had been magically relocated to the second moon of Ethwuld. From the gargoyle and naga infested ruin they extracted a great deal of wealth and magical items. After two years of forays into the ruins, the Blades of the Stars left for the moons of Chaos, following the path of an archmage that stole a powerful cache of magical items they had just uncovered. They confronted the mage in his tower, fighting past several golems and guardian creatures before being forced to flee through a gate to the pirate hold of Thrask. They lost several members in a deadly ambush in a back street alley when they were trying to secure transport back to the Republic. They did manage to make it back to the Republic, destroying a rampaging Krajen on the way. Once back in the Republic, they became vicious pirate hunters, attacking their ships with a vengeance. They dealt with any and all pirates with quick and deadly justice.
This viciousness quickly came to the attention of the Empress, and she took a particular liking to Niabeth and Galorejar. The pair was exceptionally vicious. For Niabeth, she used the pirates as a means to work out frustrations she had held since childhood. This pleased the Empress, and she brought both to work in the Palace. The duo worked for several years as advisors and running errands for their Empress. When they uncovered a nasty scandal involving the Earth Court Mage skimming the royal treasury, the Empress was more than pleased. She elevated Galorejar into the vacant position.
A year later, the Court Mage of Air was killed by his own experiments. The same experiments filled the Air Shard with deadly, burning fumes (the former Court Mage was trying to develop a new, more powerful version of the Incendiary Cloud spell). The entire circle of air mages was killed, with the exception of Niabeth, who was running an errand to the Starhammer Clan. She returned to become the new Court Mage of air. Since then, she served faithfully, but is being run ragged trying to build a loyal circle of air mages, restore the Air Shard, and still find time to research magical spells and items.

Galorejar is a short but stout individual. He stands little over 5' tall, but is incredibly well-built for his size. Because of his bulk, he tips the scales at little over 275 lbs., almost all of it muscle He has dark brown hair that he has cut very short. Galorejar has a squarish face, flat features, and brown eyes set closely to his nose. Though he shaves, Galorejar sometimes sports "five-o-clock shadow" because his beard grows so quickly. Galorejar has all the wrinkles about the eyes that any 45 year old military man has.
A military man from birth, Galorejar was the son of a sunhawk captain. He entered the military when he was fifteen years of age, and worked his way up the ranks. His first real assignment was as a sky-rider, which was not his best performance. Because of several accidents, none because of Galorejar, he developed a fear of heights. Afterwards, he was assigned to guard duty at the Coralkeep, where he served loyally for years. During the long shifts, Galorejar turned to reading as an outlet of his boredom. Eventually, his brilliant mind was "discovered" and he was reassigned to the magical University, where he proved himself quite worthy of wearing the robes of a mage. He achieved high honors at the University and graduated at the top of his class. He spent several years after that as a teacher, training new generations of wizards for the Republic. He took up a friendship with Niabeth, a student of Air. The two were conned into joining an adventuring party after Niabeth graduated, and the two were excellent members of said company. They had many adventures which would ultimately lead them to the Royal Court itself. Both were assigned duties at Court, which they followed loyally. Galorejar would discover that the then-current Master of Earth was skimming money from the treasury, and exposed him. So pleased was the Empress that she promoted Galorejar to the quickly vacated position of Master of Earth.
Currently, Galorejar is working closely with the military to strengthen it, especially in ground forces. He hopes to increase the magical might available to the army by assigning more mages to the army and have more magical items reassigned to them. He has always had a special understanding of ground troops, and favors them above other branches of the military.

Tinanna Doverstar is a fairly tall woman, standing little over 5' 10" tall and weighs 132 lbs. She has raven black hair that she keeps trimmed at shoulder length. Her face is small and triangular, suggesting an elvish heritage. Her eyes are bright blue, and are immediately noticeable. Tinanna tends to wear blue or green clothing, as typical of one of her profession. However, she prefers to wear very little, as she likes to swim and a full gown or set of robes would interfere with that.
As a member of the noble house of Dovestar, Tinanna grew up in an environment where men were dominated and kept servile. Thus, she fully believes that the proper role for men is as servants to women. This attitude got her into no ends of trouble at the University, as jilted male students plotted acts of revenge upon her. She was humiliated on a number of occasions, with until the worst humiliation was at graduation. As she stepped forward to give her speech, a prankish mage cast a spell that made all of her clothes invisible to everyone except her. This act of humiliation resulted in her locking herself away in a tower at the Dovestar castle for months. It took weeks for her friends to coax her out of her shell, at which time she decided to get revenge. She confronted the mage, bested him in magical combat, and tied him up, naked and beaten, to the town hall at Pearlport. The two have had a nasty game of one-ups-manship ever afterwards. Tinanna has had the upper hand so far, but the young mage is always plotting his revenge against her.
Tinanna worked odd jobs throughout the Republic for years, earning high marks as a helmsman, alchemist, battle mage, and even as a field mage using her magic to ensure a good harvest. About four years ago, she used her family connections and her reputation to get a spot in the Royal Court, which put her at the right spot at the right time. The whole staff of water mages were fired by the Empress for behavior unbecoming of mages (they used their skills in potions to cause people to 'donate' money to their pockets and to seduce the wives of officers away on duty). Tinanna was chosen to replace them all, and now works hard to find suitable mages to serve her. She has a bias towards women, and so far her staff consists of a half dozen women water elementalists. Despite a number of good male applicants, she accepts none. Today, Tinanna's duties includes making potions for use by the Royal Court (which is greatly aided by her magical items) and advising the Empress on all things involving water magic.
